Sassicaia Super Tuscan Cabernet Collection
The Collection
Known for its elegance and graceful composition, Sassicaia is one of the most famous Super Tuscan wines of the century. Awarded 100 points by wine advocate Robert Parker, the Sassicaia was historically mistaken for the excellent 1986 Mouton-Rothschild, and has wowed critics ever since. As the creation of premier winemaker Tenuta San Guido, Sassicaia is designed on the Tyrrhenian coast among the flourishing seaside villages of Maremma. Translating to “the place of many stones,” Sassicaia’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes acquire their richness within the graveled and varied terrain of limestone, marl, and coastal pebbles. Following harvesting, the ruby red wine ferments in steel tanks, then ages for up to two years in French Tronçais oak barriques.
