The Bottle
Cask 340 was filled at The Glenlivet on February 3, 1940, by John Urquhart and his son George of Gordon & MacPhail, and emptied on February 5, 2020. Eighty years and two days in a first-fill sherry butt, bottled at 44.9 percent. At its release it was the oldest single malt Scotch whisky ever bottled and the first to carry an eighty year age statement.
Only 250 decanters exist, each in handmade Glencairn crystal designed by Sir David Adjaye OBE and set in an oak pavilion by Wardour Workshops. Collection 86 holds one of them, poured by the ounce at Yaamava' Resort & Casino in Highland, California.
